Signal Scanner MCP server

by cstamigo-droid

Let your AI scan a stock and crypto watchlist for signals like oversold RSI or volume spikes.

Signal Scanner is a small helper that checks a list of stocks, ETFs or crypto against rules you write in a simple text file. It pulls market data, runs the numbers, and tells you which symbols match. It is handy if you follow a handful of tickers and want a quick heads-up without opening a charting site.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to Signal Scanner, which reads market data and your rules file. Once it is set up, you can just ask your AI to run the scan and it will do it for you.

What this MCP server does

You keep a watchlist file with the tickers you care about, and a rules file that says things like 'RSI below 30' or 'volume more than double the usual'. When you ask your AI to run the scanner, the AI calls this helper. The helper downloads recent prices, works out the indicators, and checks each symbol against your rules. It then hands back the list of symbols that matched, so you see the results right in the chat.

What you can do with it

  • Scan your saved watchlist for signals
  • Scan a few tickers you type on the spot, like AAPL and BTC-USD
  • Check which symbols are oversold or overbought by RSI
  • Spot volume spikes and big daily moves
  • See which symbols are near their 52-week high or low
  • Run the scan on a loop and push matches to Telegram

Try asking your AI

  • “Run my scanner”
  • “Any signals on NVDA and BTC-USD?”
  • “Which of my watchlist symbols are oversold right now?”
  • “Scan AAPL MSFT and EURUSD=X for volume spikes”

What it gives back to you

You get back a short list of the symbols that matched your rules, with the indicator values that triggered them. If nothing matched, it tells you that too. Symbols with no data are reported honestly instead of being skipped silently. Everything shows up as plain text in the chat, so you can read it at a glance.

Before you start

What you need

  • Python installed on your computer
  • The Signal Scanner project downloaded and its requirements installed
  • A watchlist.txt file and a rules.yaml file (the project includes examples)
  • Optional: a Telegram bot token and chat id if you want alerts there

Good to know

It only reads market data and your own files, so it will not change or delete anything, but the signals are just rule matches and not financial advice.

Install it with your AI

Add Signal Scanner MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed

You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.

Sign in to get the install prompt

Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check Signal Scanner MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step.
