Delimit MCP server
by delimit-ai
Checks your API changes for breaking edits and leaked secrets, and keeps a signed record of what ran.

Delimit is a helper for people who change API files and want to know if the change breaks anything. It compares an old and a new version of your API description and gives you a clear pass or fail. It is handy if you work on a team where someone else depends on your API.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to a tool. This one connects your AI to Delimit, so your AI can run checks on your API files and read the results back to you. You ask in plain words, and the helper does the technical work behind the scenes.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI to check your API changes. The AI passes the old and new files to this helper. The helper compares them rule by rule and looks for leaked passwords or keys. It then tells you if the change is safe or breaking, and can save a signed receipt of the check so you have proof later.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Check two versions of an API file and get a pass or fail
- See exactly which endpoints, fields or settings were added, removed or changed
- Find leaked secrets in the files you changed
- Get a version bump suggestion: major, minor, patch or none
- Save a signed record of a check you can verify later
- Keep notes and decisions that survive across sessions
- Keep one shared task list across different AI assistants
Try asking your AI
- “Compare my old OpenAPI file with the new one and tell me if anything breaks”
- “Is dropping the deprecated v1 users field a safe minor change?”
- “Check my staged files for leaked secrets before I commit”
- “Write a signed record of this check to the records folder”
What it gives back to you
You get a short verdict in the chat: passed or failed, with the file name and the exact problem if something is wrong. For a diff, you get a list of what was added, removed or changed. For a version bump, you get one word and a suggested next version number. When you ask for a record, it writes a signed file on your computer.
Before you start
What you need
- Node.js installed on your computer (the free program that runs npx commands)
- A folder with your API files in it
- No account or keys needed for the basic check
Good to know
It can write files and records on your computer, and some features need paid plans, so check what runs before you trust it on important work.
Install it with your AI
Add Delimit MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check Delimit MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
