Flow diagram: you ask your AI “Get my 2FA code for GitHub”, on your own computer the Authenticator App MCP server works with authenticator App, and you get back your code or password.

This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to the Authenticator App on your computer. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI for a login code or password for a site, and it will look it up in your Authenticator App for you. It is handy if you use an AI assistant to help with logging in or filling in sign-in details.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app. This one connects your AI to the Authenticator App on your computer, so it can look up your 2FA codes and passwords when you ask. You stay in control, because the app only shares what your access token allows.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI for a code or password for a specific website and account. The AI passes that request to this helper. The helper talks to the Authenticator App on your machine and finds the matching entry. It sends the code or password back to the AI, which shows it to you in the chat. From there, the AI can use it to help with a login if you want it to.

What you can do with it

  • Fetch a 2FA code for a website you name
  • Look up a saved password for an account
  • Find the right entry when you mention the site and username
  • Hand the code or password to your AI so it can help you sign in
  • Keep your codes and passwords in the Authenticator App instead of pasting them into chat

Try asking your AI

  • “Get my 2FA code for GitHub”
  • “What is my password for my Amazon account”
  • “Find the login code for my work email”
  • “Look up the password for my Netflix account and help me sign in”

What it gives back to you

You get the code or password as a short answer in the chat, usually just the digits or the text you asked for. If the AI cannot find a matching entry, it will tell you that instead. You can then copy it yourself or let the AI use it to fill in a login form.

Before you start

What you need

  • The Authenticator App · 2FA desktop version installed on your computer
  • An access token from the Authenticator App (you create it in the app's Settings under MCP Server)
  • An AI client that supports MCP servers, set up with the config shown in the README

Good to know

This helper can read your 2FA codes and passwords, so keep your access token private and only connect it to an AI client you trust.
