DNS Doctor MCP server
by dnsdoctor · official
Check and fix your domain's email setup, blacklists, and expiry from inside your AI chat.

DNS Doctor is a helper that lets your AI look at the technical settings behind your domain name, the ones that decide whether your email lands in inboxes or in spam. It scans your email authentication (SPF, DMARC, DKIM), checks blacklists, and watches your domain and SSL expiry. It is handy for anyone who runs a website or sends email from a company domain and does not want to become a DNS expert.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to a service, and here that service is DNS Doctor. Once it is connected, your AI can ask DNS Doctor to look up your domain's records and hand you back a plain answer. You just ask in normal words, and the AI does the technical back and forth for you.
What this MCP server does
You tell your AI something like "why is our email going to spam?" and name your domain. The AI passes that to the DNS Doctor helper, which reads your domain's real DNS records from the internet. DNS Doctor checks your SPF, DMARC, and DKIM setup, your mail servers, blacklist status, and expiry dates. It then hands the AI a report, and the AI explains it to you in normal language. If a fix is needed, DNS Doctor builds a corrected record that is checked by a strict rule engine, not guessed by the AI.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Scan a domain and get a full report on its email authentication
- Build a corrected DMARC record that is checked before you publish it
- Count your SPF lookups against the limit of 10
- Check whether a DNS change has spread across the world
- Look up your registrar, nameservers, and domain expiry date
- Check blacklist status and reverse DNS for an IP address
- Audit which other services are allowed to send email as your domain
Try asking your AI
- “Why are our invoices landing in customers' spam? Our domain is example.com”
- “Check the SPF and DMARC setup for example.com and tell me what to fix”
- “Has our new DNS record gone live everywhere yet?”
- “When does our domain expire and are we on any blacklists?”
What it gives back to you
You get back a written summary in the chat, not a wall of technical text. It lists what is set up correctly, what is missing, and what to change, with the exact record text to paste into your DNS host when a fix is ready. It can also give you counts, dates, and a simple verdict on whether a change has spread yet. Nothing is changed on your domain automatically; you always get the answer and the record, and you decide what to do.
Before you start
What you need
- Nothing to install for the hosted version, just the web address
- An API token from dnsdoctor.dev only if you want to see your own monitoring alerts and readiness data (sign in, then Settings, then API tokens; the token is shown once)
Good to know
It only reads your domain's public DNS information and never changes anything for you, so you always publish any fix yourself, and the two monitoring tools need your own account token.
Install it with your AI
Add DNS Doctor MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check DNS Doctor MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
