Rephonic MCP server

by getrephonic · official

Lets your AI look up podcast listener numbers, demographics, contacts, transcripts, charts and sponsors.

Flow diagram: you ask your AI “How many listeners does My Favorite Murder have?”, the Rephonic MCP server connects it to Rephonic, and you get back answer in your chat.

This is a connector made by Rephonic, a company that keeps data on millions of podcasts. Once you add it, your AI assistant can look up podcast details for you, like how many listeners a show has, who its audience is, and how to contact the host. It is handy if you work in marketing, PR, or podcast booking and spend a lot of time researching shows.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you using what it already learned. An MCP server is a small helper that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an outside service. This one connects your AI to Rephonic, a big database of podcast information. So when you ask about a show, your AI can go and check Rephonic for you instead of guessing.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI a question about a podcast, like how many listeners it has or who the host is. Your AI sends that request to this helper, which talks to the Rephonic database. Rephonic sends back the details, such as listener estimates, audience demographics, contact emails, or a full episode transcript. Your AI then writes it up for you in the chat, in plain language. You never have to open the Rephonic website yourself.

What you can do with it

  • Search for podcasts by topic, title, or publisher
  • Look up listener estimates and audience demographics for a show
  • Find host and guest names with contact details and social profiles
  • Pull a full transcript for almost any podcast episode
  • Check daily chart rankings for Apple, Spotify, and YouTube
  • See which sponsors are advertising on which shows
  • Find podcasts with overlapping listeners

Try asking your AI

  • “Find podcasts about personal finance with at least 50,000 listeners”
  • “Who hosts the Diary of a CEO podcast and how can I contact them?”
  • “Summarise the transcript of the latest episode of My Favorite Murder”
  • “Which podcasts are advertising HelloFresh right now?”

What it gives back to you

You get answers written out in the chat, like a short summary, a list of shows, or a table of numbers. For example, it might give you a list of ten podcasts with their listener counts and contact emails. It can also paste a full episode transcript if you ask for one. Everything shows up as normal text you can copy or ask follow-up questions about.

Before you start

What you need

  • A Rephonic API key (a kind of password for apps; you get one from the Rephonic developers page, and it may require a paid plan)
  • An AI assistant that supports custom connectors, like ChatGPT, Claude, or Cursor

Good to know

Each lookup uses up part of your Rephonic API quota, so heavy use can use up your allowance or cost you money depending on your plan.

Install it with your AI
