Unity MCP server
by IvanMurzak
Lets your AI assistant work inside the Unity Editor: create objects, write scripts, run tests, and debug your game.

This is a helper that connects your AI assistant to Unity, the program people use to build games. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI in plain words to make changes in your Unity project, and it does them for you. It is handy if you build games in Unity and want a hand with the boring or fiddly parts.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to another app. This one connects your AI to Unity, so it can look at your project and make changes there when you ask. Think of it as giving your AI a pair of hands inside Unity.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something in normal words, like creating a few objects in your scene. Your AI passes that request to this helper program, which is running alongside Unity on your computer. The helper then talks to Unity and does the actual work, such as adding objects, writing a script file, or running your tests. When it is done, it sends the result back to your AI, and your AI tells you what happened in the chat.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Create, move, duplicate, and delete objects in your Unity scene
- Write and update C# script files in your project
- Run your Unity tests and report which ones passed or failed
- Take screenshots of the game view, scene view, or a single object
- Read the Unity console logs to help find errors
- Start, stop, or pause play mode in the Editor
- Check performance numbers like frame rate and memory use
What it gives back to you
You get answers in your normal chat with the AI. That can be a short summary of what it changed, a list of objects or files it found, test results, or the text of a script it wrote. Screenshots come back as images you can look at. If something went wrong, it tells you what the error was.
Before you start
What you need
- Unity installed on your computer, with your game project open
- The Unity MCP plugin added to your project (a .unitypackage installer or a command the README gives)
- An AI assistant that supports MCP, such as Claude Desktop or Cursor
- Node.js if you want to use the command line installer
Good to know
This helper can change and delete things in your Unity project, so save your work and use version control before letting your AI make big changes.
Install it with your AI
Add Unity MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check Unity MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
Game developers and hobbyists who build games in Unity and already use an AI assistant for coding.
