This is a helper that connects your AI to Marktplaats.nl and 2dehands.be, the big second-hand marketplaces in the Netherlands and Belgium. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI in normal words to find things, compare prices and check whether a seller looks trustworthy. It is handy for anyone hunting for a bike, a car, furniture or a phone without scrolling through pages of ads.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill, in this case a connection to Marktplaats and 2dehands. When you ask a question, the AI passes it to this helper, the helper looks things up on the marketplace websites, and the answer comes back to you in the chat. You do not need to know how it works under the hood, you just talk to your AI like always.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something like find a used road bike under 500 euros near a certain postcode. The AI sends that request to this helper, which searches Marktplaats or 2dehands with your filters. The helper brings back matching ads with prices, locations and details. If you want, it can also look up the seller, show their reviews and list everything else they are selling. For new ads, it can check again and again and only show you listings that appeared since your last look.

What it gives back to you
You get back a list of matching ads with titles, prices, locations and links, plus short summaries the AI writes for you. Price checks come back as numbers like the median, the cheapest and the most expensive. Seller checks come back as a short trust summary with review score and verification details. If you send a message or place a bid, you first see a preview and nothing happens until you confirm.
Before you start
What you need
- Nothing special for searching and browsing, the hosted version works without installing anything
- For the account features (messages, favorites, bids), a Marktplaats or 2dehands account you are already logged into in your browser
- For the local install, the uv tool (a small free program that runs Python helpers)
Good to know
The account features can send messages and place real, binding bids on Marktplaats, so always read the preview before you confirm.
