Agentic-KB MCP server
by jaydubya818
Let your AI search a large, source-backed engineering wiki and answer questions with citations.
Agentic-KB is a personal knowledge base about AI agents, agent memory, and AI engineering patterns. It holds over 1,000 short articles that are linked to each other, like a small Wikipedia. This MCP server lets your AI read and search that wiki for you instead of guessing.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with what it already knows or what you paste in. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. Here, the helper connects your AI to Agentic-KB, a local knowledge base running on your own computer. Once connected, your AI can look things up in that wiki and bring back answers with sources when you ask.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI a question about agent design, agent memory, or AI engineering. The AI uses this helper to search the Agentic-KB wiki and read the matching pages. The helper talks to the knowledge base running on your machine, which holds compiled, cross-referenced articles. The AI then gives you an answer built from those pages, with the sources it used. If two pages disagree, the knowledge base marks that so you can see it.
What you can do with it
- Search the knowledge base for a topic like multi-agent orchestration
- Ask a question and get a synthesized answer with citations
- Read a single article page by its name
- List pages in a section such as concepts or patterns
- Check which sources support a claim
- Spot contradictions or stale content in the wiki
- Look up related concepts through wiki links and backlinks
Try asking your AI
- “Search the knowledge base for supervisor-worker patterns”
- “What does Agentic-KB say about agent memory and durable state?”
- “Read the concepts/tool-use page and summarize it”
- “List the concepts in the knowledge base and show me the ones about evaluations”
What it gives back to you
You get back answers in the chat, written in plain language and based on the wiki pages. The AI usually lists the article names or citations it used, so you can check them yourself. For a read request, you get a summary of that one page. For a search, you get a short list of matching pages with a line about each.
Before you start
What you need
- Node.js 24.x installed on your computer
- The Agentic-KB project downloaded and set up (git clone, then npm install)
- An Anthropic API key if you want to use the query and compile features
- A PIN code if you want to use the private parts of the knowledge base
Good to know
The knowledge base can read files and write new pages on your computer, and some features need a PIN or an API key, so keep those private.
Install it with your AI
Add Agentic-KB MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check Agentic-KB MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,361 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
People who work with AI agents or AI engineering and want their AI assistant to answer from a real, source-backed wiki instead of guessing.
