Blocknative MCP server
by kukapay
Check live gas prices and estimate transaction costs across blockchains, right inside your AI chat.

This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to Blocknative, a service that tracks gas prices on several blockchains. Once it is set up, you can just ask your AI what gas costs right now or how much a transaction would cost, and it will look it up for you. It is handy for anyone who sends crypto transactions and wants to avoid overpaying on fees.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you using what it already knows. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an outside service. This one connects your AI to Blocknative, a gas price tracking service. So when you ask about gas fees, the AI can go fetch fresh numbers from Blocknative and bring them back into the chat.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something like what is the gas price on Ethereum right now. The AI passes that question to this helper program. The helper then talks to Blocknative's gas price service over the internet. Blocknative sends back current predictions, and the helper hands them to your AI. Your AI then shows you a neat table with the numbers in the chat.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Check current gas price predictions for Ethereum, Polygon, Base, and other supported chains
- See prices at different confidence levels, from 70% up to 99%
- Estimate the total cost of a transaction given a gas limit
- List which blockchains are supported and their chain IDs
- Compare base fee and priority fee to decide when to send a transaction
Try asking your AI
- “What is the gas price on Ethereum right now?”
- “Estimate the cost of a transaction with a gas limit of 21000 at 90% confidence on chain 1”
- “Show me gas prices for Polygon”
- “Which blockchains can you check gas prices for?”
What it gives back to you
You get back a short answer plus a table of numbers. For gas prices, you see the base fee and a list of confidence levels with price, priority fee, and max fee in Gwei. For cost estimates, you see the gas limit, the max fee per gas, and the total cost in both Gwei and ETH. Everything shows up right in the chat, ready to read.
Before you start
What you need
- Python 3.10 or newer
- The uv tool installed (a helper for running Python projects)
- A Blocknative API key if you plan to check prices often (free to sign up, optional for occasional use)
Good to know
Gas prices change quickly, so the numbers you get are predictions at the moment you ask, not a guarantee of what you will pay.
Install it with your AI
Add Blocknative MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check Blocknative MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
