CoinGecko Trending MCP server
by kukapay
Ask your AI which cryptocurrencies are trending on CoinGecko right now, with prices and changes.

This is a small helper that lets your AI look up the trending coins on CoinGecko, a popular crypto price website. You ask a question in normal words, and your AI fetches the current trending list for you. It is handy if you follow crypto prices and want a quick read without opening a browser.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to CoinGecko's trending page, so it can look up the coins people are watching right now. You just ask, and the helper does the fetching.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something like which coins are trending today. Your AI passes that request to this helper program. The helper opens the CoinGecko trending page and pulls the table of coins into a neat document. Your AI then reads that table and answers your question in plain words. You get the answer right in the chat, no browser needed.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- See which cryptocurrencies are trending on CoinGecko right now
- Check the price, 1 hour, 24 hour and 7 day changes for each coin
- Compare 24 hour trading volume and market cap across trending coins
- Filter the list to only coins going up in the last 24 hours
- Rank the trending coins by market cap or by volume
- Ask follow-up questions about any coin in the list
Try asking your AI
- “What are the trending cryptocurrencies with positive 24h price changes?”
- “Show the top 3 trending coins by market cap.”
- “Which trending coin has the highest 24h trading volume?”
- “List the trending coins and their 7 day changes.”
What it gives back to you
You get a written answer in the chat, usually a short list or table of the trending coins with their price, changes, volume and market cap. Your AI can also give you a summary, like which coins are up today or which has the biggest market cap. If you ask for a ranking or a filter, you get that list back in plain text.
