Lightning Wallet MCP server

by lightningfaucet

Give your AI a Bitcoin wallet so it can pay Lightning invoices and paid APIs for you.

This is a helper that gives your AI assistant its own Bitcoin Lightning wallet. You can ask it in plain words to pay an invoice, send sats to someone, or buy access to a paid web service. It is handy if you want your AI to handle small online payments without you copying and pasting wallet details every time.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat. It cannot reach out and pay for something. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to a service. This one connects your AI to a Bitcoin Lightning wallet service, so when you ask it to pay or check a balance, it can actually do that for you.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI something like pay this invoice or check my balance. The AI passes that request to this helper. The helper talks to the Lightning wallet service on the internet. The service sends back the result, like a payment confirmation or a list of recent transactions. Your AI then shows you that answer in the chat.

What you can do with it

  • Pay any Lightning invoice
  • Send sats to a Lightning address like someone@getalby.com
  • Pay for access to L402 or X402 paid web APIs
  • Create an invoice to receive sats
  • Check your wallet balance
  • See your transaction history
  • Set a spending budget for an AI agent

Try asking your AI

  • “Register a Lightning wallet for me with the email you@example.com”
  • “What is my balance right now?”
  • “Pay this invoice for me: lnbc...”
  • “Send 100 sats to someone@getalby.com”

What it gives back to you

You get answers in the chat, like your balance in sats, a payment confirmation, or a list of recent transactions. If you asked it to pay something, it tells you whether the payment went through. It can also show you details like the fees that were charged.
