Reddit Options Trader MCP server
by Mattbusel
Lets your AI pull Reddit-driven trading signals, options data, and watchlists from the ROT platform.

This is a helper for the Reddit Options Trader (ROT) project, a research tool that watches Reddit and news feeds for stock chatter and turns it into options trade ideas. It is handy if you already follow the ROT dashboard and want your AI assistant to look up signals, options chains, or watchlist items for you. It is not a trading app and it does not place real trades.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you using what it already knows. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to another service. This one connects your AI to the ROT platform, so it can ask ROT for signals, options data, and watchlist entries. You stay in your chat window; the helper does the fetching behind the scenes.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something like which tickers ROT is flagging today. The AI passes that question to this helper, which talks to the ROT service. ROT looks up its stored signals, options chains, or watchlist and sends the answer back. The helper hands it to your AI, and your AI writes it out for you in plain language. Nothing is bought or sold; you just get information back.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Look up recent Reddit-driven trading signals from ROT
- Check the options chain for a ticker, including max pain and put/call ratio
- See the IV rank and IV percentile for a stock
- List the tickers on your ROT watchlist
- Add or remove a ticker from your watchlist
- Run the strategy screener to see covered calls, iron condors, and similar ideas
- Get a ranked leaderboard of tickers by signal strength
Try asking your AI
- “What signals did ROT pick up on Reddit in the last day?”
- “Show me the options chain for AAPL about 30 days out.”
- “What is the IV rank for TSLA right now?”
- “Add NVDA to my ROT watchlist with a note that I am watching earnings.”
What it gives back to you
You get back lists, numbers, and short summaries written by your AI. For example, a list of tickers with a signal score, or a small table with max pain, put/call ratio, and IV skew for one stock. Watchlist changes show up as a short confirmation. Everything appears as normal chat text, not as files.
Before you start
What you need
- A running ROT instance (the project's own server, either self-hosted or the public demo)
- Reddit API credentials (client ID and secret) if you run ROT yourself, since ROT reads Reddit posts
Good to know
This tool only reads and shows research signals; it does not place real trades, but the signals themselves are experimental and are not financial advice, so never risk money you cannot afford to lose.
