This is the official helper from Porkbun, the company that sells domain names. It lets your AI assistant look up domains, check prices, and even register or renew them for you. It is handy if you own websites or buy domain names and want to skip the clicking around.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to Porkbun, so it can look up domain availability, check prices, and manage your domains and DNS records when you ask. You do not need to be technical to use it.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something like whether a domain name is free or how much a renewal costs. The AI uses this helper to talk to Porkbun. Porkbun sends back the answer, like the price, whether it is available, or a list of your domains. If you ask it to make a change, like adding a DNS record, it does that too and tells you it is done.

- If using the hosted connector: just sign in to Porkbun when asked
- If running it yourself: Node.js 18 or newer and a Porkbun API key
Good to know
Some tools can spend your account credit or charge a saved card, and some can change or delete DNS records, so always double-check before saying yes.
