AppCrane MCP server
by gitayg · official
Lets your AI deploy apps, manage secrets, read logs, and roll back on your own AppCrane server.
This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to AppCrane, a deployment platform you run on your own server. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI to do everyday deployment chores for you, like pushing an app live or checking what went wrong. It is handy for people who build and run apps but do not want to click through a web dashboard for every little thing.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to your own AppCrane instance, so it can look things up and do things there when you ask. You run it on your own computer, and it talks to your AppCrane server using a key you set up.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something like deploy my app or show me the logs. The AI passes that request to this helper. The helper then talks to your AppCrane server using the address and key you gave it. AppCrane does the actual work, like deploying, changing a secret, or fetching logs. The result comes back through the helper and shows up in your chat as an answer.
What you can do with it
- Deploy an app to your AppCrane server
- Read the logs from a running app
- Set or update a secret value
- Roll back to a previous version
- List the apps on your server
- Check the status of a deployment
- Use GitHub tools if you add a GitHub token
Try asking your AI
- “Deploy my latest app version to AppCrane”
- “Show me the last 50 lines of logs for my web app”
- “Update the DATABASE_URL secret to this new value”
- “Roll back my app to the version from yesterday”
What it gives back to you
You get answers in your chat, like a list of your apps, a chunk of log text, or a short message saying a deployment finished. If you asked for a change, like setting a secret or rolling back, you get a confirmation that it happened. If something went wrong, you get an error message explaining what the server said.
Before you start
What you need
- An AppCrane instance you host yourself
- An API key from that instance
- Node.js 20 or newer on your computer
- Optional: a GitHub token if you want the GitHub tools
Good to know
This helper can change real things on your server, like deploying, rolling back, and editing secrets, so double-check what you ask it to do.
Install it with your AI
Add AppCrane MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check AppCrane MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,361 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
Developers and small teams who run their own AppCrane server and want to manage deployments by chatting with their AI.
