MCP Security Guard
Check the MCP servers you use for hidden risks, poisoned tools, and unsafe settings.
MCP Security Guard is a helper that looks at the MCP servers you have connected to Claude and tells you if any of them are risky. It is handy for anyone who uses Claude with extra tools and wants to know they are safe. You do not need to be technical to use it.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects to the MCP servers you already use and checks them for problems. So when you ask, your AI can look at those servers and tell you if something is wrong.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI to check your MCP servers. The AI uses this helper to look at each server's settings and the text it sends to Claude. The helper compares what it finds against a list of known risks, like hidden instructions or unsafe changes. Then it gives you a report with a score and a grade for each server, so you know which ones to trust.
What you can do with it
- List all MCP servers you have installed
- Audit each server for tool poisoning and hidden text
- Check if a server's tools changed since you last approved them
- Scan for secrets like passwords in server settings
- Test a server before you install it
- Export a report of your servers and their risks
- Get a security score and grade for each server
Try asking your AI
- “Are my MCP servers safe?”
- “Check my MCP servers for security issues”
- “Show me a report of my MCP server risks”
- “Test this new MCP server before I install it”
What it gives back to you
You get a clear report in the chat. It lists each server, what it can do, and any problems found. You also see a score from 0 to 100 and a letter grade, so you can quickly see which servers are safe and which need attention.
Before you start
What you need
- Claude Code or another MCP client like Cursor or VS Code
- Node.js 18 or newer (if you install it yourself)
Good to know
This tool can launch MCP servers to check them, which might run code on your computer, so only use it on servers you trust.
Install it with your AI
Add MCP Security Guard to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check MCP Security Guard, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,609 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
Anyone who uses Claude with extra tools and wants to make sure those tools are safe, especially office workers who are not technical.
