PineForge backtest MCP server
Let your AI test a Pine Script trading strategy on real price data and show you the results.

This is a helper that lets your AI run a backtest on a Pine Script version 6 trading strategy. A backtest means testing a strategy against past price data to see how it would have done. It is handy for traders and analysts who write Pine Script and want quick, honest numbers instead of guesses.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat and reason about things it already knows. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to another tool. This one connects your AI to PineForge, a backtesting engine that turns your Pine Script into C++ code and runs it on price data. So when you ask your AI to test a strategy, it can actually run the test instead of making up numbers.
What this MCP server does
You give your AI a Pine Script strategy and a file of price data, or just a coin name and timeframe. Your AI sends that to this helper, which translates the Pine Script into C++ and runs it through the PineForge engine. The engine simulates every trade the strategy would have made on that price history. Then you get back a report with the trades, the profit or loss, and other numbers. Everything runs on your own computer, and your strategy and data files stay there.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Backtest a Pine Script v6 strategy against a CSV of price data
- Fetch past price data for a coin from Binance and save it as a CSV
- Run a sweep of many settings at once to compare combinations
- Translate Pine Script into C++ without running a backtest
- List every setting the engine accepts before you run anything
- Check whether a specific Pine Script feature is supported
- Look up which parts of Pine Script v6 the engine covers
Try asking your AI
- “Backtest this Pine Script strategy on my BTCUSDT 15 minute CSV and tell me the net profit”
- “Fetch the last 7 days of ETHUSDT hourly candles and save them as a CSV”
- “Run a grid backtest of this strategy with fast length 8, 12 and 21 and slow length 21 and 50”
- “Is the ta.supertrend function supported by PineForge?”
What it gives back to you
You get a report with the number of trades, the net profit or loss, the list of individual trades, an equity curve, and some diagnostics. Short reports come back right in the chat. If the report is long, the full file is saved to a path you choose and the chat shows a short summary plus where the file is. You also see which settings were actually applied.
Before you start
What you need
- Docker installed and running
- A Pine Script v6 strategy to test
- A CSV of price data, or an internet connection so it can fetch one from Binance
- An MCP client such as Claude Desktop, Cursor, or Claude Code
Good to know
A backtest only shows how a strategy behaved on past data, so it is not a prediction of future results or financial advice, and the engine supports only part of Pine Script v6.
