Oura Ring MCP server

by proscar87

Lets your AI read your Oura Ring data, like sleep, readiness and heart rate, and answer questions about it.

Flow diagram: you ask your AI “How did I sleep last night compared to the week before?”, the Oura Ring MCP server connects it to Oura Ring account, and you get back your raw Oura records.

This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to your Oura Ring account. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI things like how you slept or whether your heart rate changed this month, and it goes and fetches the real numbers for you. It is handy for anyone who wears an Oura Ring and wants to talk about their own data instead of scrolling through the app.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you. It cannot see your Oura Ring data, because that lives in Oura's systems, not in the chat. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill, and here that skill is talking to Oura. You ask a question, your AI passes it to this helper, the helper asks Oura, and the answer comes back into your chat.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI a question about your Oura data, such as how you slept last night. Your AI uses this helper to ask Oura for the records it needs. The helper collects everything, page by page, until there is nothing left to fetch, so you do not get a half answer that looks complete. Then it hands the raw numbers back to your AI, which shows them to you in the chat. It does not add its own opinions or averages, it just brings back what Oura actually recorded.

What you can do with it

  • Look up your sleep, readiness, activity and heart rate records for any date range
  • See last night's sleep and today's readiness together with the days before them
  • Compare two periods, like before and after a change, and see if the difference is real
  • Check whether two of your metrics tend to move together over time
  • Browse a list of all the kinds of data your Oura Ring collects
  • Run a self-check to see which Oura login you are using, without showing your health values

Try asking your AI

  • “How did I sleep last night compared to the week before?”
  • “Did my HRV change since I stopped drinking? Compare the last two weeks with the two weeks before.”
  • “Do my hard training days lower my readiness the next morning?”
  • “Show me my heart rate for yesterday.”

What it gives back to you

You get the actual records back, shown as lists of days or samples with their values, plus a note of how many pages it took to fetch them. For comparisons you get the two averages, the difference, and a plain verdict such as outside noise or within noise. It never invents a summary or a percentage on its own. Everything comes back raw so you and your AI can look at it together.

Before you start

What you need

  • An Oura Ring account with data in it
  • A client ID and secret from Oura's application page (Oura requires every app to register once)
  • Python installed, or the one-click Claude Desktop file, or Docker

Good to know

This server only reads your Oura data and cannot change or delete anything, but it does handle your private health information, so keep your Oura login details safe and only connect it to an AI you trust.
