unbrowser MCP server
by protostatis
Let your AI open web pages, follow links, fill forms, and keep cookies, without a full browser.

unbrowser is a small helper that lets your AI visit web pages and work with them. It is like a light browser that runs quietly in the background, keeps track of cookies and page state, and hands your AI a tidy summary instead of a giant pile of HTML. It is handy if you often ask your AI to look something up on a site, click through links, or fill in a simple form.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat. It cannot open a web page or remember a login. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill, and here that skill is browsing the web. Once unbrowser is connected, your AI can ask it to open a page, read it, and click or type on it, then bring the results back into your chat.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something like "open this page and tell me the main links." Your AI passes that to unbrowser. unbrowser fetches the page, keeps its cookies and state, and builds a structured map of the page: title, headings, links, and clickable items. Your AI reads that map and answers you, or takes the next step, like clicking a link or filling a form. If the page really needs a full browser, unbrowser says so instead of pretending it worked.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Open a web page and get a structured summary of it
- Follow links and keep the session going across pages
- Fill in and submit simple HTML forms
- Remember cookies so you stay logged in during a session
- Find specific elements on a page and click or type into them
- Pull out tables, cards, or the main text from a page
- Tell you when a page needs a real browser and suggest the next step
Try asking your AI
- “Open news.ycombinator.com and list the top five story titles with their links”
- “Go to this page and fill in the search box with 'annual report', then submit it”
- “Find the pricing table on this page and give me the plan names and prices”
- “Open this article and give me the main text in a short summary”
What it gives back to you
You get back a structured summary of the page: its title, headings, links, and clickable items, plus a short hint about what to do next. For forms and clicks, it tells you what changed, like the new page or a confirmation. For extraction requests, it gives you clean lists, tables, or the main text. It all shows up as normal text in your chat.
Before you start
What you need

Good to know
It can read pages and submit forms as you, and cookies are like passwords, so only use it on sites and accounts you are allowed to access and keep cookies local.
