Coin MCP server

by pwh-pwh

Lets your AI look up live cryptocurrency prices and token details from Bitget.

Flow diagram: you ask your AI “What is the current price of Bitcoin in USDT?”, the Coin MCP server connects it to Bitget, and you get back price and token details in chat.

This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to Bitget, a crypto exchange, so it can fetch current coin prices for you. It is handy if you follow crypto prices and want a quick answer in the same chat where you already work. You do not need to be a developer to use it, but someone has to set it up once.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you using what it already knows. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to Bitget, so it can look up crypto prices and token details when you ask. You stay in your normal chat, and the helper does the fetching behind the scenes.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI something like the price of Bitcoin. Your AI passes that request to this helper. The helper talks to Bitget's public price service and asks for the latest number. Bitget sends the price back, and the helper hands it to your AI. Your AI then shows you the answer in plain words in the chat.

What you can do with it

  • Check the current price of a coin like BTC or ETH in USDT
  • Look up details about a token, such as which chains support it
  • Read recent announcements from Bitget
  • Compare prices for a few coins by asking one after another
  • Get a quick price check without leaving your chat

Try asking your AI

  • “What is the current price of Bitcoin in USDT?”
  • “How much is ETH worth right now?”
  • “Tell me about the BGB token and which chains it supports.”
  • “Any recent Bitget announcements I should know about?”

What it gives back to you

You get short answers in the chat, like a price number for the coin you asked about. For token details, you get a short description of things like supported chains and network status. For announcements, you get a list of recent items. Everything shows up as normal text you can read right away.

Before you start

What you need

  • A computer or cloud setup where the server can run
  • Deno installed if you run it yourself (a free tool for running this kind of program)
  • No Bitget API key needed for the public price data

Good to know

Prices come from a public exchange feed and can change quickly, so treat them as a quick check, not as financial advice.
