Portveil MCP server

by roybogs

Let your AI see your Portveil VPN devices and move them between exit countries when you ask.

This is a helper that connects your AI assistant to your Portveil VPN account. Once it is set up, you can ask in plain words things like which devices are protected, or to move one to Finland, and the assistant takes care of it. It is handy for anyone running a few machines, like scraping boxes or agent computers, that need to appear in different countries.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI assistant can only chat. It cannot look at your VPN account or change anything there. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill, in this case a connection to your Portveil account. So when you ask something, the AI passes the request to this helper, and the helper talks to Portveil for you.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI something in normal words, like which devices are on your account or to move the scraper box to Finland. The AI sends that request to this Portveil helper. The helper signs in to Portveil with your account ID and token, makes the change or fetches the information, and waits for the new exit server to confirm the move. Then it hands the result back to the AI, which tells you what happened in the chat.

What you can do with it

  • List every device on your account, showing whether it is protected, where it exits, and its live speed
  • Move a device to a country or city, like Finland or Helsinki
  • Rotate a device to its next location, or on a schedule every few minutes
  • Reconnect or disconnect a device's VPN tunnel
  • Add a new device and get the commands to run on a Linux server
  • Rename a device or turn its remote control on and off
  • See recent moves, reconnects, and changes on your account

Try asking your AI

  • “Which of my devices aren't protected right now?”
  • “Move my scraper box to Finland.”
  • “Rotate every agent to a new location.”
  • “Rotate the scraper between the US and Finland every 15 minutes.”

What it gives back to you

You get answers back in your chat as plain text, like a list of devices with their country and speed, or a short confirmation that a device was moved. Some things, like adding a phone or laptop, also save its tunnel files on your computer. Requests that name a device loosely, like scraper, may return a short list of matches if several fit.

Before you start

What you need

  • A Portveil account (a free one starts with just an email)
  • An API token from the Portveil dashboard, with read or control scope
  • Your Portveil account ID, which starts with acct_
  • Node.js on your computer if you run it with npx

Good to know

It can move, rename, or remove devices and turn VPN connections off, so use a token with the scope you actually need and keep the control token private.

Install it with your AI

Add Portveil MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed

You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.

Sign in to get the install prompt

Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check Portveil MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,361 MCP servers here for you.
