MCPDBWizard Oracle MCP server
by srmadscience
Lets your AI call only the Oracle database routines and tables you pick, as safe named tools.

MCPDBWizard is a tool that builds a small helper program for your AI, one that can talk to an Oracle database. You choose which database routines, tables and queries are allowed, and the tool writes the helper for you. It is handy if you work with Oracle data and want an AI to help without giving it free rein over the whole database.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to a specific Oracle database, but only to the parts you selected in advance. So when you ask your AI something, it can look it up or change it in Oracle for you, using only the allowed pieces.
What this MCP server does
You pick the Oracle packages, tables, sequences and your own tested SQL statements in a console, and save that choice as a config file. The tool then generates a Java program that speaks the MCP protocol and exposes exactly those items as named tools. When you ask your AI something, the AI calls one of those tools, the tool runs the matching Oracle routine or query, and the result comes back to you in the chat. Anything you did not pick simply has no tool at all, so the AI cannot reach it. There is no generic run-any-SQL tool, by design.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Call a specific Oracle stored procedure and get its results back
- Read, create, update or delete rows in a table you selected
- Run one of your own saved SQL statements with typed inputs
- Look up a row by its primary key, a unique key, an index or a child foreign key
- Get the next value from a sequence you selected
- Work with JSON-relational duality views on Oracle 23ai
- Limit a table to only some of create, read, update and delete
Try asking your AI
- “Get the order summary for customer 1042”
- “Show me the row in CUSTOMERS with id 88”
- “Add a new row to the ORDERS table with these values”
- “What is the next value of the ORDER_SEQ sequence”
What it gives back to you
You get back plain answers in the chat, built from what Oracle returned. A record comes back as a set of named values, a list of rows comes back as a list of objects, dates come back as text, and text or binary fields come back as text or encoded text. If your request changed something, the tool reports that the change was made. You do not see SQL, just the result.
Before you start
What you need
- Java 21 and Maven on your computer
- An Oracle database you can connect to, version 12c or newer
- Connection details for that database (host, port, service name, user, password)
- A config file listing the objects you want to expose, made with the included console
Good to know
The generated server can change or delete data in the tables you selected, so pick carefully what you expose and test before letting an AI use it on real data.
