Hydrolix MCP server

by hydrolix · official

Lets your AI look inside your Hydrolix database, see its tables, and run queries for you.

Flow diagram: you ask your AI “Show me the top 10 error messages from last week”, the Hydrolix MCP server connects it to Hydrolix database, and you get back your answer in the chat.

This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to Hydrolix, a system for storing and searching large amounts of time-based data. Once it is set up, you can ask questions in plain words and the AI will look up the answers in your Hydrolix cluster. It is handy for anyone who works with Hydrolix data but does not want to write queries by hand.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to another app. This one connects your AI to Hydrolix, so it can look at your databases and run queries there when you ask. You do not need to understand how it works inside; you just need it set up once.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI a question about your data, in normal words. The AI uses this helper to talk to your Hydrolix cluster. The helper can list your databases, list the tables inside one, show what columns a table has, and run a search query. Then the AI brings the answer back to you in the chat.

What you can do with it

  • List all the databases on your Hydrolix cluster
  • List the tables inside a chosen database
  • Show the columns and structure of a table
  • Run a search query and get the results back
  • Ask for data within a certain time range
  • Check what data exists before writing a bigger query

Try asking your AI

  • “Using your Hydrolix MCP tools, list the available databases.”
  • “Using MCP tools to access my Hydrolix database, show me the tables in the logs database.”
  • “What columns does the events table have?”
  • “Between December 5 2023 and January 18 2024, show me the top 10 error messages, ordered by timestamp.”

What it gives back to you

You get answers in the chat, in plain words or as a small table. For a listing question, the AI shows the names of databases or tables. For a query, it shows the rows that came back, often as a table you can read. If something fails, it tells you what went wrong.

Before you start

What you need

  • A Hydrolix account with a cluster hostname
  • Your Hydrolix username and password, or a service account token
  • The Claude desktop app (or Claude Code, or VS Code)

Good to know

Queries run against your real Hydrolix data, so use a read-only account if you can, and be careful with any query that changes or deletes data.

Install it with your AI

Add Hydrolix MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed

You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.

Sign in to get the install prompt

Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check Hydrolix MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.

Who it's for

People who already use Hydrolix and want to ask questions about their data without writing queries themselves, like analysts, support engineers, and operations staff.
