cityparity MCP server
Compare two cities on take-home pay, costs, taxes, and benefits like leave and healthcare.

cityparity is a helper that lets your AI compare what life really costs in two different cities. It looks at your take-home pay, rent, taxes, childcare, healthcare, vacation, and parental leave side by side. It is handy if you are thinking about moving, weighing a job offer abroad, or just curious how far your salary would go somewhere else.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you using what it already knows. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to a service. This one connects your AI to cityparity, a city comparison service, so when you ask about two cities, the AI can look up real numbers there and bring them back to you. You do not need to install anything for most apps; you just point your AI at a web address.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something like how your salary would compare in Lisbon versus Berlin. The AI sends that question to the cityparity helper, which talks to the cityparity service online. The service runs the numbers for both cities and sends back a comparison. Your AI then shows you the results in the chat, in plain language.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Compare take-home pay and living costs between two cities
- Find the salary you would need in a new city to keep the same lifestyle
- See how taxes, childcare, healthcare, vacation, and parental leave differ
- Rank cities by a quality score with your own priorities
- Look up parental leave, public holidays, and healthcare for several cities at once
- Check special tax deals for people moving to certain countries
- Get a quick profile of a single city
Try asking your AI
- “Compare San Francisco and Lisbon for someone earning 120,000 dollars a year”
- “What salary would I need in Amsterdam to match my life in Austin?”
- “Show me the parental leave and healthcare situation in Berlin, Toronto, and Tokyo”
- “Rank the top 10 cities in Europe for a family with two kids”
What it gives back to you
You get a written comparison in the chat: take-home pay for each city, a breakdown of costs, the equivalent salary you would need, and notes on things like vacation and parental leave. Rankings come back as a list of cities with scores. Single-city lookups give you a short profile with tax shape and headline costs.

Good to know
The numbers are estimates for planning, not financial or tax advice, and things like stock grants are not included, so treat the results as a rough guide.
