Flowbite MCP server

by themesberg

Lets your AI look up Flowbite UI components and build custom themes for you.

Flow diagram: you ask your AI “Show me a Flowbite card component”, on your own computer the Flowbite MCP server works with flowbite library, and you get back code snippet or theme file.

This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to Flowbite, a free library of ready-made website building blocks. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI to find the right Flowbite piece or create a color theme, and it will pull the details for you. It is handy for anyone building or tweaking a website who uses Flowbite and wants less copying and pasting.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to Flowbite, the library of Tailwind CSS components. So when you ask for a button style or a theme, the AI can look it up in Flowbite and hand you the answer.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI something like 'show me a Flowbite card component' or 'make me a theme from this hex color'. The AI passes your request to this helper. The helper looks through the Flowbite library or generates a theme file. Then it sends the result back, and your AI shows it to you in the chat as code or a description.

What you can do with it

  • Look up any of the 60+ Flowbite UI components
  • Generate a custom theme from a brand hex color
  • Turn a Figma design link into code
  • Find form, typography, and plugin examples
  • Get the exact code snippet for a component

Try asking your AI

  • “Show me a Flowbite modal component I can use”
  • “Create a theme from this hex color #1a73e8”
  • “What Flowbite form elements are available?”
  • “Turn this Figma link into code: https://figma.com/file/abc123”

What it gives back to you

You get back lists of components, code snippets you can copy, or a theme file with color values. The AI shows these right in the chat, often as formatted code blocks. If you asked for a Figma conversion, you get the generated code for that design.

Before you start

What you need

  • Node.js installed on your computer
  • A Figma personal access token (only if you want the Figma to code feature; Figma gives you one for free in your account settings)

Good to know

The Figma to code tool needs your Figma access token, so keep that token private and only share it with the AI client you trust.
