Adobe launches Firefly AI Assistant public beta for Creative Cloud users
Adobe has opened public beta access to Firefly AI Assistant, an AI tool built into its Creative Cloud suite that handles multi-step creative tasks through natural language commands. The rollout begins immediately for Creative Cloud Pro subscribers and paid Firefly users worldwide.
The assistant works across Adobe's applications-Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere, and Firefly itself-and can access more than 60 creative tools. Users describe what they need in plain English, and the system automatically selects and applies the right tools to complete the work.
What it does
The assistant handles workflows that typically require jumping between multiple applications and steps. Examples include creating social media assets from a product image, generating mood boards from creative briefs, retouching portraits, and preparing product mockups.
Users can monitor what the assistant does at each stage and refine or change outputs before moving forward. Work saves directly to Creative Cloud storage for use across Adobe's apps.
Pre-built workflows and model integrations
Adobe is also releasing Creative Skills-templates for common tasks like batch photo editing, adapting images for social media, and portrait retouching. These were built based on feedback from Adobe's user community.
The assistant now integrates image and video models from OpenAI, Google, Runway, and ElevenLabs. Adobe said it's also exploring integration with Anthropic's Claude and other third-party AI systems.
Beta terms
Beta participants get free daily generative credits while testing the feature. Adobe said it will roll out additional capabilities over time.
