CIPR launches 2026 survey as PR professionals grapple with AI and staffing shifts

The Chartered Institute of Public Relations has opened its State of the Profession 2026 survey, seeking input from PR practitioners on how the industry is adapting to artificial intelligence, workforce changes, and broader geopolitical pressures.

The survey, now in its fourteenth year, is the largest and longest-running of its kind. It captures data on skills gaps, compensation, the profession's reputation, and how practitioners are using AI tools. CIPR uses the results to inform policy decisions and represent the profession's interests to government and business.

Who should respond

The survey is open to anyone in PR and communications, whether or not they're a CIPR member. It takes roughly 10 minutes to complete on any device.

Respondents can enter a prize draw to win a £100 gift card.

Why this matters now

CIPR President Farzana Baduel said the survey captures the profession "at a time when the profession is navigating significant change - from the integration of AI tools to a turbulent geopolitical environment."

The data shapes CIPR's member services, policy work, and ability to speak with authority on behalf of practitioners across the sector.
