Kazakhstan integrates 120 government databases into single AI platform
Kazakhstan launched a unified AI platform connecting 120 government databases, positioning itself as a regional leader in government technology adoption. Nazgul Bazhaeva, director of the Regional Digital Development Department at the Ministry of AI and Digital Development, announced the move at an Eurasian Economic Commission plenary session on AI and competition.
The country ranks 24th globally in the UN E-Government Development Index and 10th for online services. Among Central Asian nations, Kazakhstan leads at 58th place in the Government AI Readiness Index.
The platform consolidates data across government agencies, reducing fragmentation that typically slows service delivery and increases administrative costs. Officials framed the integration as essential infrastructure for scaling AI applications across public sector operations.
Government workers will likely see changes in how agencies share information and process requests. The unified database structure enables faster inter-agency coordination and reduces duplicate data entry across departments.
The announcement reflects broader regional competition in digital governance. Other Central Asian countries are developing their own AI capabilities, though Kazakhstan's database integration represents one of the largest consolidation efforts announced in the region.
