Klook Tests AI Shopping Agent to Simplify Fragmented Booking Interfaces
Klook is beta-testing an AI-powered shopping agent designed to collapse its fragmented booking interfaces into a single conversational layer, co-founder and president Eric Gnock Fah said in an exclusive interview. The tool aims to let customers book attractions, tours, transport, car rentals, and other services without navigating multiple different workflows.
"The consumer may not need to deal with so many different interfaces," Gnock Fah said. "And have just one that's able to understand them and help them book that product on our platform."
How the Agent Works
The shopping agent, currently being tested with a select group of users, is built to understand what customers want, show them relevant products, complete bookings, and handle customer service after the sale. It operates as a conversational interface rather than a traditional search-and-filter system.
This matters because Klook's product catalog has grown beyond its core attractions and tours business. The company now offers airport transfers, car rentals, insurance, live events, and hotel bundles-each with different booking requirements and user flows.
A Narrower Bet Than Competitors
Klook's strategy differs from other online travel agencies chasing broader consolidation. The company is not pursuing ambitions to become a full-service OTA. Instead, it's betting that AI can help it deepen its position in experiences while pulling customers into adjacent travel spending.
For hospitality and events professionals, this approach signals how AI for Hospitality & Events is shifting from broad platform plays to targeted category leadership. The focus on AI Agents & Automation to reduce friction in booking workflows reflects a practical application of conversational AI in customer-facing operations.
