Lake.com launched Lake Chat, a conversational AI concierge that allows travelers to plan waterfront vacations using natural language instead of traditional search filters. The tool aims to reduce friction in the booking process by guiding users from initial destination discovery to property comparison and final reservation within a single interface.
Replacing the search box
Rather than starting with a standard search bar, users can ask specific questions like finding a quiet lake house for six people and a dog, or comparing cabins for a family weekend. The assistant responds with destination guidance, activity ideas, and side-by-side property comparisons. Lake Chat structures this interaction across five stages: welcome, discover, consider, compare, and reserve.
Contextualizing the trip
David Ciccarelli, founder and CEO of Lake.com, said the platform is designed to match how people actually think about travel. "Travel planning does not usually begin with a filter. It begins with a question," Ciccarelli said. "Guests can ask about a lake, narrow their options, compare properties and continue toward booking without losing the context of the trip."
Stephanie Ciccarelli, founder and Chief Brand Officer, added that the tool removes the burden of manual filtering. "Guests should not have to translate a dream trip into dozens of checkboxes," she said. The company currently manages more than 75,000 property listings across 10,000 lakes and waterfront regions.
Expanding the planning scope
The feature supports three core categories: accommodations, activities, and attractions. Users can find lake houses and cabins, discover nearby boating or hiking options, and locate local parks and marinas. This approach reflects a broader industry shift toward AI for Hospitality & Events, where conversational interfaces keep guests inside a connected planning environment rather than bouncing them between external research tools. Lake Chat is available now on Lake.com.
Why this matters for hospitality and events professionals
Travel platforms are replacing rigid search filters with conversational AI to capture users earlier in the decision-making process. Hospitality operators should evaluate how their own property listings and metadata perform when queried by natural language models, as traditional keyword optimization may not align with how guests now ask questions.
