UAE to train 80,000 federal staff in Agentic AI through university partnership

The UAE Government has partnered with Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence to train 80,000 federal employees in Agentic AI deployment. The Cabinet approved the national program, which aims to support the government's target of transitioning 50 percent of government services and operations to Agentic AI.

Ohood bint Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Government Development and the Future, and Professor Eric Xing, MBZUAI President, signed the agreement on May 21, 2026.

Training covers all government levels

The program will span all leadership and occupational categories across federal ministries and entities. Training will use hands-on learning focused on real government contexts rather than general AI awareness.

Senior government leaders will have access to executive AI capability tracks. Employees across federal departments will receive programs designed for their specific roles and responsibilities.

Focus on responsible deployment

MBZUAI will serve as a strategic knowledge partner to the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources. The university will provide research and applied expertise in building, managing, and deploying Agentic AI in government settings.

The curriculum covers Agentic AI-driven transformation, responsible AI adoption, implementation requirements, and practical applications across government work.

Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Secretary General of the Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council, said the program reflects the UAE's approach to developing and deploying AI responsibly. "A government powered by AI is built on far more than the technologies it holds," he said. "Its success rests on human competence, trained minds, sound judgement, and the values of the people who guide it."

Al Roumi said the partnership translates government directives into practical training across operations and services. The model brings together government and national academic institutions to equip civil servants with the knowledge needed to design and deliver public services using Agentic AI.
