UNCW Opens ChatGPT Pilot to 200 Faculty and Staff Members
The University of North Carolina at Wilmington is recruiting 200 faculty and staff members to test ChatGPT in a university-wide pilot running through April 1, 2027. Participants will evaluate how the AI assistant can support teaching, research, administration, and daily work across campus.
What You'll Get
Selected participants receive a ChatGPT license for university work, hands-on experience with the tool, and a chance to shape how UNCW adopts AI. You'll also join a Microsoft Teams site where participants share feedback, successes, challenges, and questions with colleagues.
The university will assign licenses on a first-come, first-served basis starting at the beginning of each business day until all 200 spots fill.
How to Apply
Faculty and staff interested in joining can complete an interest survey. After receiving your license, follow the ChatGPT knowledge base article for setup instructions.
Responsible Use Requirements
UNCW expects participants to follow existing university policies on institutional, confidential, and protected information when using AI tools. The university has published guidance on responsible AI for Education practices available on the Responsible AI Use at UNCW website.
