Compound Stock and Dilution Series Agent

Produce correct dilution series and pipetting sheets that stay within solubility and solvent limits

Compound Stock and Dilution Series Agent: what goes in, what the agent does and what you get

What it does

A dose-response experiment needs eight concentrations from several compounds. One stock is old, one precipitates at the top dose and one dilution step is miscalculated, so the curve looks odd and the experiment is repeated. This agent designs the series carefully. It builds a dilution scheme for each compound, checks solubility limits and stock age, generates pipetting sheets and verifies the final concentration at each point. If a point exceeds solubility, it redesigns the series with a lower top concentration or a different solvent, and recalculates. The scientist approves the sheets before use. Edge case: final DMSO exceeds the cell tolerance. The agent changes the intermediate dilution so the solvent stays constant.

How it works

Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.

How it decides

It chooses a dilution scheme that reaches each target within pipetting limits and keeps solvent constant. Points above solubility are removed or redesigned.

  • Stocks older than the stability limit are replaced or re-measured
  • Final solvent concentration must not exceed 0.5 percent unless approved
  • Pipetting volumes must be at least 2 microliters
  • Verify each final concentration against the target

Make it yours

Every agent is a starting point. You choose these settings for your own situation.

  • Maximum solvent percent (default 0.5)
  • Stock stability periods
  • Minimum pipetting volume (default 2 microliters)
  • Dilution factor
  • Plate formats

What keeps you in control

It always asks you first

  • Scientist approves the pipetting sheets before use

Hard limits

  • Never releases a sheet without approval
  • Always shows the calculation for each point

It stops when

  • Done: sheets approved and released
  • Stop: compound cannot reach target solubility, ask the scientist for options

An example run

What happensFor 6 compounds across 8 concentrations up to 100 micromolar, the agent finds one compound is soluble only to 40. It sets that top point at 40 and shifts the series. A stock made 11 months ago is past its 6-month limit, so it asks for a fresh stock. It adjusts intermediate dilutions to keep DMSO at 0.1 percent. The scientist approves the sheets.
