AI agent for preschool teachers
Early Literacy Skills Tracker Agent
Every child's literacy progress is current, and stalled children get a targeted next step.
What it does
Some children get letter and rhyme practice every day while quieter ones go weeks without anyone noting their progress. This agent reads your observation notes and updates each child's skill record for letters, sounds and rhymes. It finds children who have stalled, for example no new letters in three weeks, and chooses small-group activities for the next week that fit their level. A week later it checks the new notes to see whether progress followed and changes the group if it did not. Edge case: a child who is absent for two weeks is not marked as stalled, and the agent flags the gap instead. The teacher approves groups and notes.
How it works
Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.
Read the steps as a list
- Weekly observation notes added
- Read notes and update each child's skill record
- Find children with no new skills in 3 weeks of attendance
- Is the child present enough to judge progress? If not: flag the attendance gap and skip the child. Back to step 3.
- Group stalled children by the next skill needed
- Choose small-group activities for the week
- Teacher approves groups and notesThe agent waits here for your OK.
- Read next week's notes for these children
- Did the children show new progress? If not: change the activity or group and note why. Back to step 5.
- Updated skill tracker and next week's groups
How it decides
It marks a child as stalled when no new skill is observed in 3 weeks of attendance, and groups children by the next skill they need.
- Stalled means no new skill in 3 weeks of attendance.
- Group at most 4 children per skill.
- Change the activity after 2 weeks without progress.
- Absences over 5 days pause the stall count.
