AI agent for motion graphics designers

Scene Hand-Off Dependency Agent

A self-contained scene package that opens with nothing missing on a clean machine

Scene Hand-Off Dependency Agent: what goes in, what the agent does and what you get

What it does

A scene that opens fine on your machine often breaks on a teammate's computer or a render farm because textures, plugins, caches or fonts are missing or linked by absolute paths. Before hand-off, this agent walks the scene file and lists every external link, plugin, font and cache. It copies each into a package folder and rewrites the paths to relative ones. Then it validates the packaged copy, by opening it headless or running a path check, and notes anything still missing. It fixes each missing item and validates again until nothing is missing or the item cannot be found. It records plugin versions in a manifest so the receiver can match them. The artist approves the package before it is sent. Edge case: a font with a restrictive license is listed in the manifest instead of copied.

How it works

Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.

How it decides

An item is copied if it is allowed to be redistributed. Restricted fonts and plugins go on a manifest list for the receiver to install.

  • Copy an asset only if the license allows redistribution
  • Rewrite every absolute path, with no exceptions
  • Treat any validation warning about a missing item as a failure
  • List plugins by exact version in the manifest

Make it yours

Every agent is a starting point. You choose these settings for your own situation.

  • Target software and version
  • Which items are always listed, never copied
  • Folder naming for the package
  • Test frame number to compare

What keeps you in control

It always asks you first

  • Sending the package to anyone
  • Including licensed fonts or plugins in the package

Hard limits

  • Never sends the package itself
  • Never copies restricted fonts or plugins

It stops when

  • Done: validation passes and the artist approved
  • Stop: an item cannot be found after two attempts

An example run

What happensA product shot scene linked 212 files, 9 using a drive path from the artist's old laptop. The agent copied them and rewrote the paths. Validation then reported a missing particle cache. It found the cache in a temp folder, copied it, and the second validation passed. A test frame matched the original. The font was licensed for one seat, so it went on the manifest. The artist approved the package.
