AI agent for technical writers
Translation-Ready Source Check Agent
A source page that translates cleanly, confirmed by a sample translation round
What it does
Translators lose time and money on sources full of idioms, long sentences and inconsistent terms, and the problems repeat in every language. Before a page is sent to translation, this agent checks the source for these issues. It marks idioms, sentences above a length limit, ambiguous pronouns, passive constructions and terms used in more than one way. It suggests fixes and applies them to a draft. It then runs a sample machine translation into one or two test languages and back, and compares the meaning with the original. Passages where meaning shifts are marked unclear and rewritten. It repeats until the sample stays faithful. The writer approves the final source. Edge case: a product term also means something else in the target language.
How it works
Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.
Read the steps as a list
- Page is ready to go to translation
- Scan for idioms, long sentences, ambiguous pronouns and mixed terms
- Suggest fixes and apply them to a draft
- Run a sample translation into the test languages and back
- Does the back-translation keep the original meaning? If not: mark the unclear passages and note how the meaning shifted. Back to step 3.
- Rewrite the marked passages in simpler words
- Recheck the rewritten passages and the term list
- Do all marked passages now keep their meaning? If not: rewrite again or ask the writer which meaning is intended. Back to step 6.
- Writer approves the final sourceThe agent waits here for your OK.
- Translation-ready page with a check report
How it decides
A passage is clear when a sample translation and back-translation keep the original meaning, and it follows the term list.
- Split sentences longer than 25 words
- Replace idioms with literal wording
- Use one term per concept from the term list
- Rewrite any passage where the back-translation shifts meaning
