AlphaForge MCP server
by alforge-labs
Let your AI run trading strategy backtests, optimizations, and walk-forward tests for you.

This is a helper that connects your AI assistant to AlphaForge, a tool for testing trading strategies. Instead of typing commands yourself, you just ask your AI in plain words, and it runs the tests and reports back. It is handy if you work with trading ideas and want to check them without learning a command line tool.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to another tool. This one connects your AI to AlphaForge, a program that tests trading strategies. Once it is set up, your AI can ask AlphaForge to run tests and then tell you the results.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something like run a backtest on this strategy. The AI uses this helper, which passes the request to the AlphaForge program on your computer. AlphaForge does the work, like testing a strategy over past prices or trying many settings. The helper brings the answer back, and your AI explains it to you in the chat. You can also ask it to fetch price data, optimize settings, or turn a strategy into Pine Script for TradingView.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Run a backtest of a strategy on a symbol like AAPL or BTC-USD
- Optimize a strategy's settings to improve a chosen metric
- Run a walk-forward test to check if results hold up over time
- Fetch and cache historical price data for a symbol
- List your saved strategies and past backtest results
- Generate Pine Script v6 code for TradingView
- Run a Monte Carlo simulation on a saved result
Try asking your AI
- “Run a backtest of my momentum strategy on AAPL for the last year”
- “Optimize the parameters of strategy 12 on BTC-USD using sharpe ratio”
- “Do a walk-forward test on my mean reversion strategy over SPY”
- “Generate Pine Script for my strategy called trend-follow”
What it gives back to you
You get back clear answers in the chat, like the key numbers from a backtest (return, win rate, and similar), a list of your saved strategies or results, or a confirmation that a change was made. For big tests, it can give you a short summary first and the full details if you ask. It also tells you if something went wrong, in plain terms.
Before you start
What you need
- The AlphaForge program installed on your computer (the alpha-forge command)
- An AlphaForge account and a one-time login (run alpha-forge system auth login)
- Python 3.11 or newer, unless you use uvx
- An MCP-capable app like Claude Code or Cursor
Good to know
It can change your saved strategies and run long tests, and it needs your AlphaForge login, so keep an eye on what you ask it to apply or overwrite.
Install it with your AI
Add AlphaForge MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check AlphaForge MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
People who test trading ideas, like retail quants, analysts, and developers who use an AI assistant and want to run AlphaForge without typing commands.
