RiskModels MCP server

by BlueWaterCorp · official

Ask your AI to break down a US stock's risk by market, sector and stock, and get ETF hedge amounts.

RiskModels is a service that measures the risk of US stocks and portfolios. It splits that risk into parts: how much comes from the overall market, from the sector, from the subsector, and from the stock itself. This MCP server lets your AI assistant look up those numbers for you, and it is handy for anyone who follows stocks or helps manage a portfolio.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you using what it already knows. An MCP server is a small helper that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an outside service. This one connects your AI to RiskModels, so when you ask about a stock's risk, the AI can fetch live numbers from RiskModels and explain them to you. You do not need to know how the connection works; you just ask your question in plain words.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI something like how risky a stock is or how to hedge a position. The AI sends that request to this helper, which talks to the RiskModels service. RiskModels runs its model and sends back the breakdown and hedge numbers. The AI then turns those numbers into a clear answer in your chat. You can also ask about a whole portfolio, and it will put the pieces together for you.

What you can do with it

  • Break down a stock's risk into market, sector, subsector and stock-specific parts
  • Get ETF hedge amounts for a dollar position in a stock
  • Compare several stocks side by side
  • Look up returns and return attribution for a stock
  • Analyze a whole portfolio's risk
  • Read your linked brokerage positions if you have connected one
  • Look up point-in-time fundamentals for a company

Try asking your AI

  • “Decompose NVDA's risk and give me the ETF hedge for a $100,000 position”
  • “Compare the risk of AAPL, MSFT and GOOGL”
  • “What is the sector and subsector risk breakdown for my portfolio of 40% NVDA and 60% AAPL?”
  • “Show me the returns and return attribution for TSLA over the last year”

What it gives back to you

You get numbers and short explanations in your chat. For a stock, that usually means a split of its risk into market, sector, subsector and stock-specific shares, plus hedge ratios or dollar amounts for ETFs. For a portfolio, you get a combined view. The AI writes it out in plain language, and the numbers are live model output as of the latest trading day.

Before you start

What you need

  • A RiskModels account (new accounts start with $20 of prepaid credit)
  • A payment method on file for verification at signup
  • An AI app that can connect to MCP servers, such as Cursor or Claude Desktop

Good to know

Each request costs money from your prepaid balance, from about half a cent for a single stock up to 25 cents for a full portfolio report, so keep an eye on your usage.

Install it with your AI

Add RiskModels MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed

You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.

Sign in to get the install prompt

Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check RiskModels MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,361 MCP servers here for you.
