MemoryMesh MCP server

by CheMiguel23

Give your AI a structured memory for stories, characters, and places it can look up and update.

MemoryMesh is a small helper program that gives your AI a lasting, organized memory. It is made for things like text adventures, role-play, and storytelling, where you want the AI to remember who is who and where things are. If you have ever had your AI forget a character's name or where the treasure was hidden, this is for you.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat, and it forgets things once the conversation moves on. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to something outside the chat. This one connects your AI to a local memory store, a kind of notebook of people, places, and objects for your story. When you ask your AI to add a character or look one up, it quietly uses this helper to read and write in that notebook for you.

What this MCP server does

You tell your AI something like add a city called Rivertown, or who lives in Rivertown. The AI uses this helper to save that as a note in a local file on your computer. The helper keeps track of each thing (a person, a place, an item) and the links between them, like who owns what or who lives where. Later, when you ask a question, the AI reads those notes back and answers using them. You get a consistent world that does not reset every time you start a new chat.

What you can do with it

  • Add characters, places, and items to a memory your AI can reuse
  • Update details when a character moves or changes
  • Remove things you no longer need
  • Link two things together, like a character and the item they own
  • Look up what your AI already knows about a person or place
  • Keep a story world consistent across many chats
  • Inspect your memory in a separate viewer tool

Try asking your AI

  • “Add a city called Rivertown with a busy harbor and a thieves' guild.”
  • “Add an NPC named Mira, an elf ranger, currently in Rivertown.”
  • “Hide a silver amulet somewhere in Rivertown and note who might find it.”
  • “What do you know about Mira and where is she right now?”

What it gives back to you

You get short answers in the chat, like a confirmation that a character was added, or a summary of what the AI knows about a place. When you ask a question, the AI replies in normal sentences using the notes it looked up. If something goes wrong, the AI gets a small error message and can try again. You can also open a separate viewer to see your whole memory as a picture or a table.

Before you start

What you need

  • Node.js version 18 or higher (a free program you install once)
  • The Claude desktop app, updated to the latest version
  • A folder on your computer where you keep the MemoryMesh project

Good to know

This server writes to a local file on your computer, and the AI can add, change, or delete entries, so keep a backup of your memory file if the story matters to you.

Install it with your AI

Add MemoryMesh MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed

You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.

Sign in to get the install prompt

Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check MemoryMesh MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
