OVH API MCP server

by davidlandais

Lets your AI look up and manage your OVH cloud services, like domains, DNS and servers, for you.

Flow diagram: you ask your AI “Which domains do I have on OVH?”, the OVH API MCP server connects it to OVH cloud account, and you get back your answer in the chat.

This is a small helper program that connects your AI assistant to your OVH cloud account. OVH is a web hosting and cloud company, and this connector lets your AI read and change things there, such as your domains and DNS records. It is handy if you already run websites or servers on OVH and want to ask your AI questions instead of clicking around the OVH control panel.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to OVH, so it can look things up in your OVH account or make changes there when you ask. You stay in charge: the AI only does something when you tell it to.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI a question about your OVH account, like which domains you own or what DNS records a domain has. The AI uses this helper to talk to the OVH API, which is the official way programs talk to OVH. The helper checks the request is valid, sends it with your login details, and brings the answer back. You then see the result in your chat, as a list, a table or a short summary. If you ask it to change something, it can do that too.

What you can do with it

  • List the domain names you own on OVH
  • Show the DNS records for one of your domains
  • Look up which OVH API endpoints exist for a topic
  • Check details of a specific DNS record
  • Add, change or delete DNS records when you ask
  • Inspect your OVH services and their settings

Try asking your AI

  • “Which domains do I have on OVH?”
  • “Show me the DNS records for example.com”
  • “What is the current value of the A record for example.com?”
  • “Add a new TXT record to example.com with the value hello”

What it gives back to you

You get answers in your chat, usually as a list or a short summary. For example, a list of your domains, or the DNS records for one domain with their type and value. When the AI changes something, it tells you what it did. Everything is shown in plain text, so you do not have to read any technical output.

Before you start

What you need

  • An OVH account
  • Three OVH login values called application key, application secret and consumer key (OVH gives you all three on one page when you create a token)
  • The Claude desktop app or another AI app that supports MCP servers

Good to know

This can change or delete things in your OVH account, such as DNS records, so check what the AI is about to do before you say yes, and give your OVH token only the permissions you really need.

Install it with your AI

Add OVH API MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed

You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.

Sign in to get the install prompt

Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check OVH API MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
