Market Pulse MCP server

by decksaga

Lets your AI pull live crypto, stock, index, forex and Fear & Greed numbers instead of guessing.

Flow diagram: you ask your AI “How is the market doing today?”, the Market Pulse MCP server reaches CoinGecko, Yahoo Finance, ExchangeRate API and Fear & Greed Index, and you get back A tidy market summary.

This is a small helper that plugs live market numbers into your AI chat. Once it is set up, you can ask about Bitcoin, Apple stock, the S&P 500 or the dollar to euro rate and get real figures back. It is handy for anyone who checks prices during the day and is tired of copying numbers from five different websites.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you using what it already learned. An MCP server is a small program that gives your AI one extra skill or connection. This one connects your AI to market data sources like CoinGecko and Yahoo Finance. So when you ask about a price, your AI can go look it up instead of making something up.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI something like how Bitcoin is doing today. Your AI passes that question to this helper program running on your computer. The helper then asks public market sites such as CoinGecko, Yahoo Finance and ExchangeRate API for the latest numbers. It hands those numbers back to your AI, which shows them to you in a tidy answer. You never have to open a browser tab or copy a price by hand.

What you can do with it

  • Check the current price of Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana and other major coins
  • Look up a stock or ETF price like AAPL, NVDA, TSLA, SPY or QQQ
  • See how the S&P 500, NASDAQ, Dow Jones, Russell 2000 and VIX are moving
  • Convert between two currencies, for example USD to EUR or USD to JPY
  • See which coins are trending on CoinGecko right now
  • Read the crypto Fear & Greed Index and its 7-day trend
  • Get a single summary with crypto, indices, forex and sentiment together

Try asking your AI

  • “How is the market doing today?”
  • “What is the price of Bitcoin and Ethereum right now?”
  • “Give me the current price of NVDA and the S&P 500”
  • “What is the USD to EUR exchange rate and the Fear & Greed Index?”

What it gives back to you

You get back short, readable answers with the numbers you asked for. Prices come with the coin or ticker name and the change since the last day, sometimes with a small up or down arrow. The market summary tool returns a tidy block with top cryptos, indices, forex rates and the Fear & Greed score all in one place. Nothing is saved on your computer; it is just shown in the chat.

Before you start

What you need

  • Node.js installed on your computer (the free program that runs JavaScript outside a browser)
  • The Claude desktop app or another AI app that supports MCP servers
  • The market-pulse-mcp folder downloaded and set up once (the README shows the two commands)

Good to know

The numbers come from free public sources and may be delayed or briefly wrong, so do not treat them as a live trading feed for big decisions.
