TAS Guard MCP server

by intoApex

Put a safety layer between your AI and your broker so it can only place small, approved trades.

TAS Guard is a safety helper that sits between your AI assistant and your trading account. It checks every trade your AI tries to make against limits you set, and asks you before anything big or risky goes through. It is handy for anyone letting an AI place trades, even on a practice account.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app. This one connects your AI to a broker or exchange, but with a guard in the middle. So when you ask your AI to buy something, the request goes through TAS Guard first, and it decides whether to allow it, ask you, or block it.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI to place a trade, like buy 1 share of SPY. Your AI sends that request to TAS Guard instead of straight to your broker. TAS Guard reads the order, checks it against your rules, and either lets it through, holds it for your approval, or blocks it. If it is allowed, the order goes to your broker and you get a result back in the chat. Every decision is written to a log you can check later.

What you can do with it

  • Set a maximum dollar amount for any single order
  • Set a maximum total dollar amount per day
  • Limit trading to a list of symbols you choose
  • Require your approval for orders above a certain size
  • Approve or deny held orders from your phone via Telegram
  • Stop all new orders instantly with a kill switch
  • Review a tamper-evident log of every decision

Try asking your AI

  • “Buy 1 share of SPY at market price”
  • “What are my current limits and how much have I traded today?”
  • “Place an order for 10 shares of TSLA”
  • “Cancel all my open orders”

What it gives back to you

You get a clear answer in the chat: the order was placed, held for your approval, or blocked with the reason. If it was held, you see an approval request or an id you can approve from a terminal or your phone. You can also ask for your status and get your limits and today's usage. The audit log keeps a record of every decision.

Before you start

What you need

  • Node.js installed on your computer (the free program that runs the helper)
  • A broker account, such as Alpaca, with API keys (a kind of password for apps)
  • The Claude desktop app or another AI app that supports MCP servers
  • Optional: a Telegram account if you want phone approvals

Good to know

This tool can place real trades if you connect a live account, so start with a paper account and keep your limits small.

Install it with your AI

Add TAS Guard MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed

You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.

Sign in to get the install prompt

Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check TAS Guard MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,609 MCP servers here for you.
