Memgraph MCP server
by memgraph
Ask your AI to run graph database queries and explore the Memgraph schema for you.

This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to a Memgraph database. Memgraph is a graph database, which stores information as points (people, products, places) and the links between them. If your team keeps data in Memgraph, this lets you ask questions in plain words instead of writing database code yourself.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app. This helper connects your AI to Memgraph, so the AI can look things up or run queries there when you ask. You stay in the chat, and the helper does the talking to the database.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI a question about your graph data. The AI uses this helper to send a query to your Memgraph database. The helper brings back the results, row by row, with the points and links kept in their proper shape. Your AI then explains the answer in the chat. It can also look up the database structure first, so it knows what labels and relationships exist before writing a query.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Run Cypher queries against your Memgraph database
- Search the graph schema by a word or pattern
- Look up the full details of a node type
- Look up the details of a relationship type
- Check the values of an enum
- List the databases you can access
- Switch to a different database when your setup allows it
Try asking your AI
- “Which people are connected to Alice in the graph?”
- “Search the schema for anything related to payments”
- “Show me the properties and relationships for the Person node”
- “Run this query and give me a summary: MATCH (n) RETURN count(n)”
What it gives back to you
You get the query results back in the chat, one row per result. Nodes and relationships come back with their labels, types, and properties intact, so your AI can describe them clearly. Often your AI will turn the raw rows into a short summary or a list. If you asked for a graph view, you can get a compact set of nodes and relationships without repeats.
Before you start
What you need
- A running Memgraph database you can reach
- Docker, if you want to run the helper in a container
- The address of your Memgraph database (the default is bolt://localhost:7687)
- A username and password for Memgraph, if your database requires them
Good to know
By default it only reads data, but if you turn off read-only mode it can change or delete things in your database, so be careful with what you ask it to run.
Install it with your AI
Add Memgraph MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check Memgraph MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
People who work with data kept in Memgraph and want to explore or query it through an AI chat instead of writing database code.
