MyLinedChart MCP server

by none298-dotcom

Lets your AI read your live MyLinedChart desktop chart: symbol, candles, drawings, indicators, and IBKR status.

Flow diagram: you ask your AI “What symbol and timeframe is on my chart?”, on your own computer the MyLinedChart MCP server works with myLinedChart, and you get back answer in chat.

This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to your MyLinedChart desktop app. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI questions about the chart you have open and it will look at the actual data on your screen. It is handy for traders who use MyLinedChart and want a second pair of eyes on their setup.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you using what it already knows. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app, and here it connects to your MyLinedChart desktop chart. It runs quietly on your own computer, right next to the app. When you ask a question, your AI uses this helper to peek at your chart and answer with real numbers instead of guesses.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI something about the chart you have open, like what symbol is loaded or what the last few candles look like. Your AI passes that request to this helper, which reads the context file that MyLinedChart writes on your machine. The helper sends back a tidy summary: the symbol, timeframe, recent candle bars, drawings, indicators, and whether your IBKR connection is live or delayed. Your AI then explains it to you in plain language in the chat. Nothing is changed on your chart, and nothing is sent anywhere outside your computer.

What you can do with it

  • Check which symbol, timeframe, and provider your chart is currently showing
  • Read the most recent candle bars (open, high, low, close, volume)
  • List the trend lines, horizontal levels, and note labels you have drawn
  • See which indicators are on your chart and how they are set up
  • Confirm whether your IBKR connection is live or delayed
  • Ask your AI to summarise your chart setup in plain English

Try asking your AI

  • “What symbol and timeframe is on my chart right now?”
  • “Show me the last 20 candles on my current chart.”
  • “List all the drawings and price levels I have on this symbol.”
  • “Which indicators are on my chart and what settings do they use?”
  • “Is my IBKR connection live or delayed right now?”

What it gives back to you

You get answers in the chat, not files. Your AI will describe your chart in words, list your drawings and indicators, or show a small table of recent candle values. If something is wrong, like a delayed feed, it will tell you that too. Everything stays read-only, so your chart is never changed.

Before you start

What you need

  • The MyLinedChart desktop app installed and open
  • Node.js 18 or newer on your computer
  • The MCP server enabled inside MyLinedChart (Settings, then MCP)
  • A chart loaded in the app so there is something to read

Good to know

It only reads your chart and never places trades, but the answers are only as fresh as the chart data in your app, so check the feed status before acting on anything.
