GENOME Memory MCP server
by NORTHTEKDevs
Give your AI a private, offline memory so it remembers facts across chats on your own computer.

GENOME is a memory helper for your AI. It lets your AI remember things you told it, like a colleague who keeps notes, and those notes stay on your own computer. It is handy if you use Claude Desktop, Claude Code, or Cursor and you are tired of repeating yourself every new chat.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat. It forgets everything the moment you close the window. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill. This one gives your AI a memory that lives in a file on your machine, so it can save what you say and look it up later when you ask.
What this MCP server does
You tell your AI something worth remembering, like a name or a preference. Your AI passes that to the GENOME helper running quietly on your computer. The helper turns the words into numbers and saves them in a small local database file. Later, when you ask a question, your AI asks the helper to find the closest matching notes. You get the answer back in the chat, drawn from what you saved before.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Save facts and preferences so your AI remembers them next time
- Search your saved memories by meaning, not just exact words
- Ask what you said about a topic earlier
- Delete a memory that is no longer true
- Clear all memories for a user when you want a fresh start
- Keep everything offline with no API key and nothing sent to the cloud
Try asking your AI
- “Remember that my main client is Acme and their contact is Dana.”
- “What do you know about my preferred meeting times?”
- “Forget what I told you about the old project budget.”
- “Reset my memories for this user.”
What it gives back to you
You get short answers in the chat, plus the matching notes your AI found. Each note usually comes with a small relevance score so you can see how close the match was. When you save or delete something, your AI tells you it was done. Nothing is shown as a file or a table unless your AI chooses to write it out.
Before you start
What you need

Good to know
This helper can delete or clear your saved memories when asked, so be careful with forget and reset requests.
