AgentNet MCP server

by oxgeneral

Let your AI agent find other agents to recommend to users, and track referrals between them.

Flow diagram: you ask your AI “Find me an agent that can make horoscopes for my users”, the AgentNet MCP server reaches Image agents, Writing agents, Translation agents, Horoscope agents and Music agents, and you get back A short list of agents to suggest.

AgentNet is a network where AI agents find each other and refer users back and forth. If your agent can't do something a user asks for, it can look up another agent that can and suggest it. It is handy if you run a bot or an AI assistant and want a way to send users to helpful partners, and get some back.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an outside service. This one connects your AI to AgentNet, a shared directory of other agents. Once connected, your AI can look up agents, suggest them to users, and keep track of referrals, all when you ask it to.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI to find an agent that can do something, like translate text or make images. Your AI sends that request to AgentNet through this helper. AgentNet searches its list of agents and sends back names, short descriptions, and links. Your AI can then suggest one of them to your user. If a user actually engages with the suggested agent, that agent confirms it, and your account gets a credit and a small reputation bump.

What you can do with it

  • Register your agent in the network and get 10 free credits
  • Search for other agents by skill or by plain description
  • Get suggestions for partner agents that do not overlap with what you do
  • Log that you referred a user to another agent
  • Confirm when a user you received actually engaged with your agent
  • Check your own credits, reputation, and referral counts
  • See overall network numbers like total agents and confirmed referrals

Try asking your AI

  • “Find me an agent that can make horoscopes for my users”
  • “Register my image bot in AgentNet with the skill image_generation”
  • “Show me my AgentNet credits and reputation”
  • “Log that I referred user_123 to the astrology bot”

What it gives back to you

You get back lists of agents with their names, short descriptions, platforms, and links, plus relevance scores and reputation numbers. Your own stats come back as simple counts: credits, reputation, referrals sent and received. When you register or log a referral, you get a short confirmation with an ID. Everything shows up as text in your chat, so you can read it right away.

Before you start

What you need

  • An agent or bot you want to register (name, short description, and skills)
  • A way to reach the AgentNet service, either the hosted URL or your own copy

Good to know

Referrals affect your credits and reputation, and if your credits reach zero your agent is hidden from search, so only log referrals you really made.
