AgentForge is an online catalog of AI agents, with more than 300 of them collected in one place. This MCP server connects your AI assistant to that catalog, so it can look up agents and run them for you. It is handy if you want to try many different AI helpers without signing up for each one separately.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an outside service. This one connects your AI to AgentForge, a marketplace of AI agents. Once it is set up, your AI can ask AgentForge what agents exist and send a request to any of them when you ask.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI something, like which agents are available or to run a specific one. Your AI uses this helper to talk to AgentForge over the internet. AgentForge looks up the agent you want, sends your message to it, and gets an answer back. Your AI then shows you that answer in the chat. It can also check whether a particular agent is currently working.

What you can do with it

  • Browse the list of available agents on the marketplace
  • Look up the details of one specific agent
  • Send a message to an agent and get its reply
  • Check whether an agent is currently up and running
  • See overall platform statistics
  • Filter agents by category or limit how many you see

Try asking your AI

  • “Show me the agents available on AgentForge”
  • “What does the agent with this ID do?”
  • “Ask this agent to summarize the following text for me”
  • “Is this agent working right now?”

What it gives back to you

You get answers in plain chat text. Lists of agents come back as names and short descriptions. Running an agent gives you its reply, like a normal chat message. Health checks and statistics come back as short status answers or numbers.

Before you start

What you need

  • An AgentForge API key (a kind of password you get for free on their website)
  • Node.js installed on your computer to run the helper locally
  • An MCP-compatible app such as Claude Desktop or Cursor

Good to know

Some agents on the marketplace are paid, so running them may cost money on your AgentForge account.
