AIm Workout Journal MCP server

by persistmcp

Log workouts by chatting with your AI, then see your history, records and estimated 1RM in one place.

Flow diagram: you ask your AI “Log today's workout: squats 5x5 at 100kg, bench 4x8 at 70kg”, the AIm Workout Journal MCP server connects it to AIm Workout Journal, and you get back answers in the chat.

AIm is a workout journal that your AI assistant writes for you. You describe a training session in your own words in Claude or ChatGPT, and the assistant saves it. It is handy if you already chat with an AI about training and want your real numbers kept somewhere instead of scattered in old chats.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat. It has no memory of your gym sessions and no place to put them. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to a service. This one connects your AI to AIm, your workout journal, so it can save sessions and look up your past training when you ask.

What this MCP server does

You tell your AI what you did at the gym, in normal words. The AI passes that to this helper, which writes it into your AIm journal. Later, when you ask how your training is going, the AI reads your logged sets, weights and body metrics back from the journal. It can also pull in a goal, your equipment and any injuries you told it about, so the next workout is planned from your real history. The journal itself lives in a small web app you can open on your phone.

What you can do with it

  • Log a workout session by describing it in chat
  • Fix or delete a session you logged by mistake
  • See your volume, progression and estimated one rep max
  • Search a pool of exercises with illustrations
  • Set a training goal and update your coach profile
  • Import an export from another tracker or a photo of a notebook page
  • Review a draft program your AI wrote for you

Try asking your AI

  • “Log today's session: squats 5x5 at 100kg, bench 4x8 at 70kg, rows 3x10 at 60kg”
  • “What is my estimated 1RM on the bench press right now?”
  • “How much volume did I do for legs this week compared to last week?”
  • “Plan my next workout based on what I have logged lately”

What it gives back to you

You get answers in the chat, not files. Ask about a session and you get the sets and weights back. Ask about progress and you get numbers like total volume, how a lift has moved over weeks, or an estimated one rep max. When the AI logs something, it tells you what it saved.
