Push To Display turns any screen into a live display board, and this MCP server lets your AI send updates to those boards for you. You type a request in plain words, and the text shows up on your board in real time. It is handy if you already use the Push To Display app on your phone or tablet and want your AI to post to it.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill, in this case a connection to Push To Display. Once it is connected, your AI can look up your boards and send content to them when you ask. You do not need to understand how it works under the hood. You just talk to your AI like normal.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI to put something on a board, for example a short status message. The AI uses this helper to talk to Push To Display. The helper sends your text to the board you picked, or to your default board if you did not pick one. The board updates right away on the screen that is showing it. You can also ask the AI to list your boards, create a new one, or rename one.

What you can do with it

  • Send a short message to a board
  • Send styled text with a chosen size, weight, or color
  • Target a specific panel on a multi-panel board
  • List all your boards
  • Create a new board with a name and layout
  • Rename a board or change its description
  • Delete a board you no longer need

Try asking your AI

  • “Put Deploy finished on my main board”
  • “Show Build passing in green on panel 2”
  • “List all my Push To Display boards”
  • “Create a new board called Daily Numbers”

What it gives back to you

You get a short confirmation in the chat that the update was sent, or a list of your boards with their names and IDs. If you ask for board details, you get the name, description, and layout. When something fails, you get a plain message explaining what went wrong.

Before you start

What you need

  • A Push To Display account (the same one you use in the mobile app)
  • Node.js 18 or newer on your computer
  • To log in once with the pushtodisplay auth login command

Good to know

It can delete a board permanently, so be careful when you ask your AI to remove one.
