microcharts MCP server
by ganapativs
Lets your AI pick, set up and draw tiny word-sized charts as finished SVG pictures.

This is a small helper that lets your AI make little charts, the kind that fit inside a sentence, like a sparkline or a small bar. You ask a question in plain words, and the AI finds the right chart and draws it for you. It is handy for anyone who wants a quick visual in a chat or a document without opening a spreadsheet.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you in text. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to another tool. This helper connects your AI to microcharts, a chart library, so the AI can look up the right chart and draw it. You just ask, and the AI uses this helper behind the scenes to hand you a finished picture.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something like whether a number is trending up. The AI calls this helper, which looks through a list of small chart types and picks the best match. Then it gets the exact setup for that chart and draws it as a finished SVG picture, along with a short written description of what the chart shows. You get the picture and the description right in your chat. It all runs on your own computer, so nothing is sent anywhere.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Find the right small chart for a plain-language question
- Get the exact setup and a ready example for any chart type
- Draw a chart from your own numbers and get a finished SVG picture
- Get a short written summary of what the chart shows
- See a list of every chart type it knows about
- Pass a ready-made sample straight into a render so it works first try
Try asking your AI
- “Show me the revenue trend for this quarter as a small chart”
- “Is this number trending up or down? Here are the values: 132, 148, 141, 165, 159, 182”
- “Draw a bullet chart with value 72 and target 80”
- “What small chart should I use to compare a few categories?”
What it gives back to you
You get back a finished SVG picture, which is a kind of image file that shows up right in the chat. Along with it comes a short sentence describing the chart, like the trend and the range of values. You also get the picture's size. If your numbers are missing or the wrong shape, you get a clear message telling you what is needed instead of an error.
Before you start
What you need
- An MCP client, such as the Claude desktop app or Cursor
- Node.js installed on your computer (the helper runs through npx)
Good to know
It only draws charts and does not change or delete anything, but it does need your numbers to be in the right shape, so check the values you give it.
