BotBell is an app for your iPhone, iPad and Mac that shows push notifications. This MCP server connects your AI assistant to BotBell, so the AI can send you a notification and then read what you reply. It is handy if you want your AI to reach you when you are away from your computer.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you inside its window. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to another app. This one connects your AI to BotBell, the notification app on your phone and Mac. Once it is set up, you can just ask your AI to send you a message, and it will arrive on your device.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI to send you a notification, for example when a long task finishes. The AI passes your message to this helper program, which sends it to the BotBell app on your phone. The notification pops up on your iPhone, iPad or Mac. If you reply in the BotBell app, the AI can read your reply the next time you ask it to check. Some notifications can even include buttons like Yes or No, so you can answer with one tap.

What you can do with it

  • Send a push notification to your phone or Mac
  • Add a title, a link or an image to the notification
  • Add up to five quick reply buttons to a notification
  • Check whether you have replied in BotBell
  • List the bots you have set up (with a personal token)
  • Create a new bot (with a personal token)
  • Route messages through extra tokens for other accounts

Try asking your AI

  • “Send a notification to my phone saying the report is ready”
  • “Analyze this log file and push the summary to my phone”
  • “Check if I have any replies in BotBell”
  • “Send me a notification asking if I want to approve the deploy, with Yes and No buttons”

What it gives back to you

When you send a notification, the AI usually just tells you it was sent. When you ask it to check replies, it shows you a short list of your messages, each with a timestamp and the text you typed. If you tapped a button, the reply also shows which button you pressed. With a personal token, it can also show you a list of your bots.

Before you start

What you need

  • The BotBell app on your iPhone, iPad or Mac (free from the App Store)
  • A bot token or a personal access token from the BotBell app
  • Node.js installed on your computer
  • The Claude desktop app or another app that supports MCP

Good to know

Your token is like a password for your BotBell account, so keep it private and do not paste it into chats or public places.
